What to expect from your blood draw and to do when they’re ready.

Getting your blood drawn

Once your consent form is signed, your lab requisition is available inside My Wellness File™. Print it — that’s all you need to bring with you to the lab.

Before you go

  • Check if you need to fast. Your requisition will tell you whether fasting is required and for how long. Read it before you head out.
  • Stay hydrated. Plenty of water makes the draw easier — and is fine even if you’re fasting from food.
  • Bring your requisition. That’s it. No other paperwork required.

Booking your draw

Health In A Box™ uses LifeLabs for blood draws.

The draw itself usually takes just a few minutes. After that, you’re done — head home and we’ll email you when your results are in.

Getting your results

When your blood results are back from the lab, we’ll email you to let you know and give you a link to book your appointment with your clinician. It’s in that session that you’ll review the results together and build your Health Action Plan.

You can review your results as soon as they are delivered:

  1. Log in to My Wellness File™.
  2. Open Lab Results in the left navigation to view your results.

You’ll be able to see your raw values in the platform. Each test has built-in explanatory content, so you can read up before your appointment if you’d like.

Don’t panic if something is flagged

Out-of-range values do not automatically mean something is wrong. Reference ranges are designed to catch frank disease, not to tell us what’s optimal for you. A lot of values can sit slightly outside “normal” without being a problem — and others can land technically “in range” while still telling us something useful.

That’s exactly why your clinician reviews your results with you in context. Wait for your consult before drawing conclusions about what your results mean.
