Getting started
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No. You can purchase any program directly from our website without a referral.
How long does the whole thing take?
About 1–2 weeks from purchase to your consult. Your requisition is available as soon as your consent is signed; results come back from LifeLabs in 3–5 business days; you’ll usually meet your naturopathic doctor within a week of booking.
What if I don’t live near a LifeLabs location?
Health In A Box™ uses LifeLabs for blood draws. If you can’t reach a LifeLabs location, we may not be able to support you right now. Contact support if you have questions.
Can I do this if I’m pregnant?
Yes. Let your naturopathic doctor know during your session.
Costs, Billing and Receipts
Is this covered by insurance?
Many extended health benefits plans and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) may cover some of our services. Check directly with your insurance provider — we’re not able to confirm what your specific plan covers.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay for what you need, when you need it. No recurring charges.
Where can I find my receipt?
Log in to your account and navigate to your Order History at the bottom of the left-hand navigation bar. There is a button at the right of each purchase to review the receipt.
Sharing your results
Can I share my results with my family doctor?
Yes. Use the Share Records link in the top-right of My Wellness File™ to grant secure access.
Does Health In A Box™ replace my family doctor?
No. We complement your family doctor — we’re focused on proactive, preventive health rather than disease care. If you don’t have a family doctor, we can’t be your only point of medical care.
Practical questions
How long do I have to use my program?
Your program is active for a defined window. Once that window closes, your program expires and any unused services are no longer available.
Your timeline depends on which stage you’ve reached:
- Before your blood is drawn: you have 12 months from your purchase date to get your bloodwork done at LifeLabs.
- After your results come back, before booking your consult: you have 6 months from your results date to book your appointment with a naturopathic doctor. After that, your results are too old for the naturopathic doctor to use, and the program will expire.
- After your consult: you have 12 months from your results date to use any included follow-ups or remaining services.
If life gets in the way, contact support — extensions are sometimes possible.
What if I miss my appointment?
You can reschedule through your appointment up to 48 hours in advance. Contact support or your naturopathic doctor directly if it’s less than 48 hours til your appointment.
What if my values are flagged?
Don’t panic — out-of-range doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong. Your naturopathic doctor will interpret your results in context. See Your results.
